            "The mission of the Institute for American Classical Music is to mentor youth and document
             the experiences of the elders in jazz to provide opportunities to study and enjoy the

    It's Uniqueness

        There is no other institute in the immediate area or across the United States that offers the specialty of training, lecturing and performance practice in this musical art form. The Institute ensures that the elements of this music will be passed down from generation to generation creating richness and an appreciation for America's classical music. It provides the means of relating past and present elements in music by fusing be-bob, hip-hop, neo-soul and contemporary gospel. It is the source of commitment for today's music generation.


    Music
    This intense level of expression is grounded in an array of different styles in the African-American folk song tradition. The Institute uses compositions from such iconic figures as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and John Coltrane, and arrangements from contemporary music for the study of American Classical Music. It is well versed in setting performance guidelines for collaboration in the art form. The institute is comprised of accredited, qualified, educated musicians holding graduate and terminal degrees in various disciplines, and is well qualified in delivering lectures, workshops, concerts and performances on all levels.
