    Institute for American Classical Music

The idea for this Institute started 15 years ago with its founder, Vernon W. Lewis.  While serving as an instructor and the Director of Instrumental Music at Lincoln University, Mr Lewis experienced a need for an indepth study for this great art form.  He realized the best means of achieving this goal was with an extremely talented group of musicians capable of fusing traditional and new styles of jazz.
An exceptional performance group of young musicians from Lincoln exhibited these elements as performers and later became known as the American Classical Art Ensemble. Subsequently, after years of research investigating formal concepts of music, Mr Lewis developed a foundation for cultural music --Institute for Americam Classical Music.

  History

 T
he young artists and musicians of today have not been truly educated about the history of
American Classical music.  The world has embraced the European Classical concept of music because of its defining term classial, which has its application to a traditional style and form of music orignating in Europe.  American Classical Music, a defining term for jazz, is one of the most influential and celebrated styles of music in the world. The Institute for American Classical Music  provides an educational environment for the practitioner and enthusiast to hear and expand their appreciation of an aesthetic tradition conceived in American culture.

Since the history of American Classical music,
has a gap of knowledge from the music icons and elders who possess the musical history and resourcefulness to provide this information. The Ameican Classical Institute's  objective is to lessen this gap through educational exercises and by housing components of American Classical ensembles in an atmosphere of love for the music, safety, and high musical standards. This experience will offer all participants a broad application of programming opportunities for different ensemble settings. These standards will enhance the general and professional musicianship of these up and coming artists in a thriving music education environment.
